5th of May, for those who don’t speak Spanish… it’s coming up this weekend, I am rather excited. I usually don’t get into the celebration so much, but this year for whatever reason I can’t wait to spend the day at a local Mexican restaurant eating plenty of tacos! I even googled ideas on how to celebrate this festive holiday in America.

I actually don’t drink, so no Margaritas for me… but I will fill up on plenty of tacos, cheese fries and enchiladas! It’s another great food holiday for me, I love those! Independence day is all about the hot dogs, burgers, brownies and so much more. Thanksgiving of course is the Turkey!

I realized not a lot of people actually know why we celebrate Cinco De Mayo, so I’m not going to spoil it by telling you here. Google it, I had to.

I had to put 4/20 in my blog title, it only makes sense on a day like this. Did you know that in Austin, Texas today at 4:20pm they are going to unveil a statue dedicated to Willie Nelson! Here, I just found that “The statue stands along Willie Nelson Boulevard at Lavaca Street, near the ACL Live at the Moody Theater studios. The 8-foot-tall, 1-ton bronze cast was created by sculptor Clete Shields of Philadelphia and is a gift to the city from Capital Area Statues Inc.“ How cool is that? I’ve never smoked the stuff, but I can appreciate the humor in a statue for Willie on April 20!

So, now on to movies! I cheat, I had to look up what is being released in theaters this weekend. Thanks to Nicholas Sparks, looks like another heart throb crazy movie for the teen girls, “The Lucky One” opens in theaters starring Zac Efron. I still have no idea who that kid is. The other movie this weekend is “Think Like A Man”, starring Gabrielle Union and Chris Brown. The rapper? … Sure enough, how does he keep getting work?

Well there you go either way, if you are looking for new movies this weekend, that’s it! And if you get the munchies at the theater, go with my favorite, Buncha Crunch. Love those things! I’m going to go find some Willie Nelson music. Later.

Can you see it? The weekend, it approaches!. This has been one long week, plenty busy with plenty yet to be done. No matter if you work the weekend or not, you ever notice how it just feels better when the weekend is here! Well, it sure does feel better for me. I’ll still put in a 10 hour day on Saturday, but just the fact that it’s Saturday makes me smile.

Speaking of which, I better make this quick – I’m working a new “Weekend” cd. The one I’m using now is from last summer, time to put together a new one to crank up on Fridays after work! Anyone do that? I remember in high school when a bunch of classmates would always be the ones to put a song list together and burn it just for the weekend festivities! I just googled “Feel Good Weekend Songs”, see if you agree with any of this list… I’m stealing a few of the songs for my list.

I love this time of year! It started back in March actually with Spring Training kicking into gear and college basketball’s fantastic showcase. Now with baseball in full swing and hockey in playoff mode you can’t go wrong! There is excitement every direction you travel up or down the TV tuner. Tonight I sat down on the couch after some work, flipped over to SportsCenter and there it was highlights of all my ball games, hockey playoff scores and even some football talk. Perfect.

So how does it all work? I know it’s a guy thing, but why are we so easily pulled into basically anything ESPN puts on the air. Seriously, sometimes they can be covering the Brunswick Open or something (whatever bowling tourneys are called), and I’ll still watch for a half hour. Wow, they can really put some spin when throwing the ball down the lane; I just throw straight and as hard as I can.

Anyway, I just had to rant about SportsCenter tonight, I love watching this show.

I’m addicted! “Auction Hunters” and “Storage Wars”, if they are on and if I’ve seen them or not – I’m watching! Have any of these caught your attention? My favorite has to be “Auction Hunters” with Allen and Ton, it’s the most informative on how they go through their process. Watching TV over the weekend I realized how many shows like this there are, because I also love watching “American Pickers”! That’s another one of those shows where you tune in and starting thinking: “hmm… what is all up in the garage rafters, I think have that same exact piece”.

When did America become obsessed with reality TV not only involving celebrities but now the everyday jobs. It probably started with “Deadliest Catch” then there was “Ice Road Truckers”, and this weekend I saw “Bait Car”, “Repo Games”, “South Beach Tow” and so many others.

Then again, I would rather watch those reality TV shows before something like “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”! It’s interesting what passes for television.

I’m so excited for this movie! Anyone else? I always liked, but was never all about “American Pie”, but now that they are bringing the entire cast back! “American Reunion”, I’m just so excited. It wouldn’t be a big deal if they weren’t bringing back the entire cast, but they are! I’m excited! Stiffler!

My 10 year High School reunion is this Summer, so it probably helps me connect with the movie a little bit more as well. I’m almost nervous my reunion, what happens when everyone is more successful than me? Who we kidding, everyone will be – I work in radio. It should be really exciting to see everyone once again, maybe I’ll meet my high school flame and we will fall in love. This time with out all the awkward memories.

Well that’s later this summer, this weekend is “American Reunion”! I’m going to have to check it out with a bunch of buddies and reminisce about our high school days… or should I say daze… see what I did there? Later.

Wow! I knew the Mega Millions Lottery was getting huge, but seriously – it DOMINATED the news tonight! That is all everyone was talking about. Now granted a half of a billion dollars is something that needs to be talked about, but wasn’t there something else to cover that may have actually been news worthy?  If that is not enough, social media was blowing up all day long with messages, posts and tweets from people who we’re buying the winning ticket! Sorry, chances are you just blew some dollar bills!

Let’s say you did win, or let’s say I won! Question I asked today while on the air at my radio job was what would be the first thing you buy? Simple. Pizza!

Well maybe not pizza, but I honestly would be smart about this… let’s just say I won $500 Million,  after taxes I receive $190 million (or something close to that), I would invest half immediately! You all know I’m going to blow the other half on stuff I’m going to regret later, honestly who needed that many pizza ovens?

OK, seriously, in this order I would use my money: Invest half, buy new home, buy new truck, take care of parents financially, buy health insurance for myself, gives to charity, see if my sister needed any cash and then give to another charity. If there was anything left, I’d buy a pizza place!

Manly TV! You guys know what I’m talking about, right? I was flipping channels the other evening and there is always different things on from some great shows on the History Channel, of course ESPN and then there is SPIKE! I can’t stand their show, “1000 Ways To Die“, it freaks me out plus who wants to know that stuff. Do you want to know what show really dragged me in the other night? It was “Repo Games“, I was hooked. Couldn’t look away as people were getting their cars towed, even with the chance to have it completely paid off by simply getting 3 out of 5 question right. Have you seen it? They have their list of cars that they need to repo, they go to these homes, get the car on the tow truck and then pull the car owner out of the house for a confrontation. Sometimes, a very heated exchange happens involving baseball bats! They then have to answer trivia questions, if they answer 3 out of 5 correctly, they get their car fully paid off! It’s a cross between “Cheaters” and “Cash Cab”!

I was trying to reminisce of “manly shows” over the years. First one that comes to mind, is “The Man Show“! Another is “The Red Green Show“, perfect for the male listener getting in touch with his inner flannel. Well that, and if your are trying to fix anything with duct tape, he’ll pretty much have it for you.

Oh man, another great show I know a lot of guys like and gals can agree on is “Always Sunny in Philadelphia“. That is on FX and it’s on now, I’ll write you all later and Remember, Keep You Stick on the Ice!

The title of this obviously a joke, or is it? I Googled Titanic photos for today’s blog and I found this, Jack Returns! Hahaha. Titanic movie is coming back in theaters in 3-D! I’m already tired of the promos and girls going crazy beacuse the movie coming back in theaters. The same thing happened when they came out with the Lion King movie again late last year. I think I just went on a rant about this the other day, that movie studios need to come up with some new creative ideas instead of rehashing old ones!

I don’t care if these movies are now in 3-D, I’d rather see Jack come back to haunt the survivors of the Titanic. How great of a plot line would that be? OK, so maybe that is a bad example, but you get what I’m saying. There has to be some new and creative writers out there who might have something new, right?

What’s the chances of seeing Back to the Future the Trilogy in 3-D?

Have you ever noticed that there is never anything on for weekend TV? Another wonderful Saturday and I’m looking at heading out on the town in a little while, but right now me and a buddy are flipping channels before we head out. There is nothing on, not just now, but ever! Weekend TV is so boring, normally that is fine because it’s the weekend, we’re out doing stuff. You still want to watch something of substance.

Then again, when is there ever anything on of substance? Reality TV has  ruined a lot of things! Remember when reality TV went as far as MTV’s Road Rules and Real World? I was into watching those shows, and now there is over some 200 shows I think – I might have made that up.

Why does my roommate get caught up in hours of Real House Wives show or Teen Mom shows? It seems all of America is in love with reality TV! Well, “Storage Wars” is on, I’m going to settle in and watch an episode or two of that. And those are the Road Rules.
