What’s wrong with this email? Let’s break it down:
1: This “Alhaji Suleiman Barau” with the “Central Bank of Nigeria” has an MSN email address.
2: Google Alhaji Suleiman Barau and all you see is scam scam scam!
3: The signature of the email is an advertisement for an ISP.
4: This email is to fonex160@yahoo.com, not my address.
5: The top of the email says: “Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information. Learn more”
6: IT’S FREAKING NIGERIA!

Buy Laptops
Save big on the latest laptops from HP, Apple and more! Shop now.

Nothing too exciting here, but the image that was embedded in the email made me laugh. I’d like to see other spammers use this email, especially for penis enlargement ads.

I mean really, this picture makes no sense in the context of the email. Unless they’re saying that their laptops are just miniature versions of real ones. The other interesting thing here is that the footer of this email claims it’s coming from Strangelol Model Development Group. I wonder what they do? I found NOTHING about them on Google.

You tagged me in a Facebook picture that’s not actually on Facebook? WTF? Do you seriously expect people to fall for that? I’d like to think that anyone with common sense would look at the website it’s linking to and see it doesn’t even have the word Facebook in it. I’m probably wrong though. I also like that they give an address you can snail mail to to “opt out” of their spam. I’m sure that if you send something to that address they’ll just dump boatloads of junk mail on your address.

I didn’t see this message on my actual Facebook account, but it came to the email I use to log into Facebook. So maybe it was just a glitch in their system. I better click on that link and see what Melissa has to show me! Even though they don’t get the facebook url right, have a typo in the email title, and has stray html at the end of the email. I’m sure they just screwed up. It’s ok.

Some of my favorite spam messages are the ones that arrive in all Chinese. It’s like the spammers don’t do their research and just hope you’re Chinese. Now, I love me some Chinese food, but I don’t speak the language, and I’m certainly whiter than Vanilla Ice, so I don’t think I’m the target demographic for your spam messages. The most hilarious thing about this message is how it says “Personal information is not compromised, avoid fees, not exaggerated Service” when this is obviously not the case. I bet people get suckered by it though. Sadly.

Is Cializ really a generic for Cialis? If you google it, it comes up with spam sites. It’s not a generic, it’s just a way to get around people that have Cialis in their blocked word list. How cute. Nice going spammers.

In case you’re curious, the attachment basically says someone is stealing my ATM card and claiming to be many people. To help the FBI combat this I need to contact Michelle Isaac from the FBI with the following:

Let’s take a different route for today’s update. We all know most spam is scam artists. Have you ever wondered what happens when you follow these spammers? Well, a few years ago, Chris Hansen (of To Catch A Predator fame) found out by following the spam and confronting these scammers. It’s a pretty interesting look at what can happen if you believe these spam messages. Check it out below:
